After the incident, young people hugged outside the store, looking panicked. A survivor who declined to be named recalled, "I think we left the nightclub 30 seconds to 1 minute before the alarm sounded, all the lights went out, and someone shouted that it was on fire. Five of our family members and two friends were missing".
